Simple truths that steady me when the fog feels too thick
“ I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” — Psalm 16:8
When I read this verse today, I thought back to a vision God gave me in my thirties, during one of the hardest seasons of my life. I saw myself on a rough path full of potholes and boulders. I told Jesus, “This is too hard. I can’t keep walking.” His response still steadies me all these years later: “Yes, you can—because I’m right here.”
That picture has shaped me more than I realized at the time. It’s even woven into the covers of my books. And it’s what comes to mind when I think about what it means to stay the course. Healing isn’t about never stumbling or always feeling strong. It’s about remembering what’s at the end of the road—and who walks beside me along the way.
Daily Reflections for the Road
The Scriptures I’ll be sharing each day this week are ones that have helped me when the road gets bumpy.
They bring me back to three truths I need again and again:
– There is hope ahead, even when I can’t see it clearly.
– Even when I stumble, I can keep moving.
– I don’t walk this road alone—He’s beside me.
I don’t always feel steady
Sometimes I still tell myself I can’t keep going. But as I step into this week, I want to remember what’s at the end of the road, and who’s walking beside me until I get there.
That’s what staying the course looks like for me right now—holding on to hope, even when the fog is thick, and keeping my eyes steady on the One who hasn’t let go of my hand.
