Finding Hope this Advent Season

As we step into Advent, I always find myself paying attention a little differently. Hope has a way of sneaking up on me this time of year—never loud, never flashy, just steady enough to catch my breath.

Maybe it’s the soft lights in the windows, or the way the year is winding down and asking me to reflect. Or maybe I’m finally slowing down long enough to notice the small places where God has been nudging me forward all along.

Hope used to feel like something I had to earn.

Or chase. Or talk myself into. But these days, it’s more like a tiny light that shows up in the middle of an ordinary moment—a reminder that God is still working, even when I can’t see the whole picture.

This week, I’m leaning into the kind of hope that whispers…

“There is more ahead than what you left behind.” Not because everything is perfect—not even close—but because hope has carried me through too many dark seasons to doubt it now.

As I revisit the Scriptures from my devotional, Light in the Darkness, I’m reminded again how often God meets us in the in-between the waiting, the wondering, the “Lord, I’m trying” parts of life.

And honestly? That feels like Advent to me. Not a big celebration, but a preparation. A turning of the heart.

A quiet, steadying breath.

If you’re entering this week with your hands full, your heart tired, or your mind spinning, I hope the verses I share this week remind you that you don’t have to muscle your way into hope. Sometimes you just need to notice the flicker and let it warm you for a moment.

Faith in the Fog just released, and I’m still taking that in.

This week’s Hope theme reminds me why I wrote it in the first place, God meets us in the fog long before we recognize the path beneath our feet.

May this week open something soft and hopeful in you. May you feel less alone. And may hope rise gently, right where you are.
