Looking Back and Seeing God’s Hand

There are things I couldn’t see while I was living through them.
When I was in the middle of some of my hardest seasons, I wasn’t looking for meaning or resolution. I was just trying to get through the day in front of me. I believed God was with me, but I couldn’t always feel it and I definitely couldn’t see how any of it would one day be something I’d look back on with clarity.

That perspective didn’t come in the moment.

It came later.
What I’ve learned over time is that God’s hand often becomes more visible in hindsight. Not because the pain suddenly makes sense, but because distance gives us perspective we didn’t have while we were carrying it.
Looking back now, I can see things I couldn’t name then: people who showed up at just the right time, doors that stayed closed, strength that carried me when I didn’t realize how much I needed it.
Recognizing God’s goodness doesn’t require rewriting the story. It simply asks us to look back honestly.

Tool of the Week: Looking Back and Seeing God’s Hand

This week’s tool is a gentle invitation to look back and notice what helped you heal, what carried you through, and where God’s faithfulness becomes clearer with time.

Sometimes God’s hand is easier to see looking back and that still counts.

Pray • Share • Give

If this reflection encouraged you, would you take a moment to:
Pray — that Faith in the Fog finds its way into the hands of those who need its message of hope and healing and that I listen to God’s voice in all that I do.
Share — this post with someone who might need the reminder that they’re not walking alone.
Give — if you’d like to help make it possible for Faith in the Fog to reach those who need help navigating the fog of healing, you can do that here.
