Last week I shared about guarding the gift—how I try to hold close what God has entrusted to me when the fog feels especially heavy. But I’ve noticed something: the gift isn’t meant to stay hidden away. I need to carry it with me, step by step, into my everyday life.

One Step At a Time

Paul’s words come to mind: “Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him” (Colossians 2:6). That word walk feels so ordinary, doesn’t it? Slow. Unrushed. Just one foot in front of the other. That’s often how my healing grows—one small step at a time.

Over the past several weeks, I’ve shared some simple tools: pausing to breathe, naming the fog, saying one gentle yes. Each one has helped me carry God’s gift into real life—whether I’m folding laundry, having a hard conversation, or sitting quietly in prayer.

Carrying It Forward

This week’s tool—Carrying It Forward—is about paying attention to those small moments and choosing to bring what God has given us into them. It’s not about having the whole plan figured out. It’s about carrying the gift into the next step, the next breath, the next choice in front of me. Sometimes that looks like whispering a prayer before I respond, or remembering a verse when my thoughts start to spiral. Each time I carry the gift forward, it shapes me in ways I don’t always see right away.

When I think about carrying it forward, it often shows up in the smallest, most ordinary places. Sometimes it’s a line of Scripture that comes back to me when I start to worry. Other times it’s remembering to breathe before I answer a hard question, or choosing to say “yes” to something that feels honest, even if it’s small.

I don’t always get it right.

That’s what I’m practicing this week, and it’s what I hope for you too. Notice the little places where you can carry God’s gift with you—into a conversation, into a quiet moment, even into the hard places that feel ordinary but heavy. Each small step matters.

There are days I forget the tools I’ve been given and slip back into old patterns. But even then, God gently reminds me that carrying it forward isn’t about perfection—it’s about taking one step at a time. Each step, each choice to bring His gift into my day, is part of the journey.

Coming This Week

And here’s something I’m looking forward to sharing: this week I’ll be sending out a Series One booklet that gathers all the tools we’ve been working with into one place. It will go out only to my weekly newsletter email subscribers. If you’d like to receive it, you can sign up here ➜ [Get Updates]. I’d love for you to have it.
