Grief can be all-consuming. Sometimes we just need small moments of finding joy.
In this psalm, David is asking for spiritual guidance to help navigate life’s challenges. In the process, he acknowledges God’s sovereignty. He finishes the verse by declaring his trust in the Lord. The entire verse is an act of surrender to God’s authority and care. For me, the verse gives me hope to keep going…
David’s words are a great reminder to us that God is not a God of immediate gratification. The Lord expects us to wait on His timing. He expects us to trust Him and “wait all the day long” for His guidance while trusting Him to meet us at our point of need. We cannot rush God, but we can rush ahead of Him. When we do, the result is often disastrous.
There was a season in my life when I thought hope had to feel certain to count. Confident. Forward-looking. Almost cheerful.If I didn’t feel hopeful, I assumed I wasn’t doing it right. But over time, I’ve learned something different. Hope doesn’t always arrive with clarity. Sometimes it shows up quietly—without words, without plans, without confidence….
