In Romans 12:12 Paul instructs believers to rejoice, be patient, and be consistent. Additionally, he pairs each instruction with a specific action or circumstance. The power of the verse resides in the pairing.

Rejoicing is a powerful thing, but Paul says to rejoice in hope. Hope uplifts the soul and allows us to experience joy no matter our circumstances.

Patience is not easy when we’re surrounded by trials or temptations, but patience during difficult times demonstrates trust in God and removes anxiety and fear.

Prayer is the essential element to maintaining peace. Being constant in prayer builds a strong relationship with the Lord. Constant prayer means talking to the Lord throughout the day, not just in the morning and at night. We pray to get to know the Lord, to trust Him, and so we recognize His voice above all the noise.
