Like many of David’s psalms, Psalm 145:1 declares God’s sovereignty. The declaration is followed by praise and surrender to the Lord. In Jewish tradition this verse is often recited each morning and evening as part of daily prayers.

The pattern of declaring God’s authority followed by praise continues throughout the Old and New Testament with the most notable example of the Lord’s Prayer. “Our father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,” conveys the same reverence as today’s verse.

When we consider all the Lord has done that demonstrates His steadfast love for us, it’s impossible to keep silent. He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords who, through Christ, brought me out of the darkness into His marvelous light! My heart cannot express the excitement and my desire to tell the world is unquenchable!
