In John 14:18 Jesus assures the disciples they will never be destitute or forgotten.
Jesus spoke these words at the Last Supper where He also revealed He would soon leave them. He wanted them to know that He was not abandoning them, but will come to them through His resurrection, through the Holy Spirit, and eventually through His second coming.
We have the same promises. We are never alone. The Lord is ever present through the Holy Spirit to guide, comfort, correct, and encourage us.
Although being in God’s presence isn’t the same as a hug from a friend or family member in times of stress, knowing He is always there brings a level of comfort to my soul. I know I’m never alone and that brings me peace.
