Attributed to King David, 1 Chronicles 16 is a prayer of thanksgiving to celebrate the return of the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem. The Ark held items that represent God’s covenant with His people , but also was where His physical presence was found.

Verse 11 admonishes the people to seek the Lord continually not just on days of celebration. The phrase “seek His strength” acknowledges human weakness and our need to seek the Lord for strength. Seeking His presence means building an intimate relationship with Him. Rather than just asking Him for things we desire. “Continually” means living a lifestyle of ongoing communion with the Lord.

While the Ark has been lost for centuries, God’s presence remains with us through the Holy Spirit and we can trust Him to meet us everyday as we seek Him continually.
