While scholars debate the authorship of Psalm 33, most agree that it is a community prayer rather than a personal prayer. As a whole, the psalm emphasizes God’s power and strength over military might. Recognizing that earthly armies cannot save anyone, but God can.

Psalm 33:22 follows declarations of trust in the Lord as their help and shield. Verse 22 is relational and is based on trust, acknowledgment, and hope in a God whom they know.

For believers today, Trust and hope in the Lord is possible because of our relationship with Him. Relationships are formed through interaction and time together. God wants a relationship with us. He wants us to experience Him everyday, but, just like our earthly relationships, we have to intentionally spend time with Him to strengthen our connection with Him. He is stronger than anything we might look to for support or protection in this world. We can trust Him to get us through any trial.
