Today’s verse highlights the fact that fear doesn’t come from the Lord. He isn’t the author of chaos or turmoil, but of peace and calm. He doesn’t create the storm, He calms it.

Fear and anxiety can derail us very quickly if we allow it too. A fleeting thought or an assumption can make a small  incident a monstrous and catastrophic event in our minds if we don’t take a moment to breathe and remember the truth of scriptures like 2 Timothy 1:7.

Remembering and speaking today’s verse has calmed my soul so many times when my emotions spiral. While emotions are not bad or wrong, they are not good guideposts for decision making. For that, we need God’s steady hand and our logic brain.

Retraining our brain to turn to truth in chaotic moments takes time and diligence, but it is worth every moment.
