Philippians 1:6 was one of my go to verses during the darkest moments of my recovery from childhood trauma. My treatment team told me I would never be able to be a social worker again, that I might not even be able work. At the time, I was enrolled in an outpatient psychiatric program that I attended five days a week and I believed what team told me for months.

However, a dear friend showed me today’s scripture and told me, “God’s not done with you, yet.” I held on to the truth of Philippians 1:6 and refused to give up. 18 months later I returned to work as I continued to heal.

The words, “He will complete what He starts,” continue to guide and encourage me as I navigate the transitions of life as a retired person. I realize now that God’s plan for me looks different as I age, but His love and enduring grace never ends. I truly believe He will lead me to places and people that I can serve and minister to until the day I breathe my last breath.

He’s not finished with me or with anyone until His plan is complete.
