Today’s verse is a lesson in perspective. Paul learned to focus on the eternal rather than his worldly circumstances. He viewed everything through faith in Jesus Christ. While he acknowledged the difficulties he faced, he immediately referred to the blessing that cane from knowing Jesus in the depths of his soul.
As I read this verse today, I’m grateful that, through Christ, I can navigate grief, financial difficulties, loneliness, illness, and anything else that the world counts as a loss, with peace and joy. Not because the circumstances disappear, but because Jesus helps me look beyond the situation toward eternity.
What I have in Christ can’t be measured in human terms. I can count the blessings in my life and see the progress I’m making because I trust the Lord as my provider, my shield, and my comforter.
