Psalm 42:8 is a both a prayer and a declaration of God’s constant presence in our lives. Most likely it was written by someone far from home who could not visit the temple to worship. Perhaps he was surrounded by enemies and sought the Lord for comfort and strength.
Verse 8 acknowledges God’s omnipresence by declaring the Lord’s love is present wherever we are and at night He comforts us and guards our sleep. He never sleeps, never abandons us, and watches over every aspect of our lives.
