Jesus didn’t promise believers a trouble free life. On the contrary, He said, “In the world you will have tribulation.” He knew we would face temptation, disappointment, grief, illness, and all the things that bring distress to our souls, so He reminded us, “But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

Does that mean He’s minimizing our pain? No, His words are meant to encourage us to look beyond our circumstances towards Him. The pain is real, but so is the source of healing. In Him we find hope in the midst of pain. We can find peace amid chaos.

When our focus shifts away from how bad everything is to what the Lord promises, we find comfort during the storm. Peter who walked on water until He took His eyes off of Jesus and focused on the storm. Even then, Jesus reached out to him and saved him. He will do the same for us. #FaithInTheFog #dailyinspiration #traumarecovery #CalmInTheChaos
