2 Corinthians 9:8 is a reminder that God is faithful to supply all our needs, but also touches on another important point: using our resources not just for our good but also for others.
Paul encourages the saints at Corinth to trust the Lord for provision and to be generous with the blessings they receive. Fear of running out often keeps people from giving to support others or the church, but here, Paul states God will ensure we have “all sufficiencies at all times.”
The issue of giving is a delicate matter that requires diligent prayer for each individual and it is a personal decision that everyone must make, but Paul assures us that that we won’t go without our basic needs.
That said, giving isn’t a magic bullet to prosperity, rather it is an act of worship. In my opinion, God never intended to for us to give out of obligation or in exchange for financial blessings. Rather, giving is an act of honoring the Lord for all He has done.
Sometimes that means we are the recipient of the gifts others give and sometimes we are the giver.
