I know I shared Psalm 3:3 recently, but as I considered what to write today, the last phrase of the verse struck a chord with me so I decided to take another look at the verse.

The first part of the verse speaks of protection and strength, but the verse ends with comfort. The phrase “lifter of my head” shifts the connection from power to peace.

When I read the phrase I image sitting before the Lord with my head bowed in despair, perhaps in shame, and He reaches down, lifts my head and looks at me with love and compassion beyond my comprehension. He makes eye contact with me when I want to run away. He holds my head up when I want to hide from everyone. He, alone, is my strength when I am weak. He knows my heart and reminds me of who I am when I forget.

There is no one like Him.
