The phrase, “wait for the Lord,” bookends Psalm 27:14 and reminds me that waiting for God to fulfill His promise or to give me direction is a better plan than taking things into my own hands.

Between the bookends lies the phrase, “be strong and let your heart take courage,” which to me, acknowledges the difficulty of waiting. But also reminds me to trust the Lord when everything around me tells me to act.

Waiting is hard when I think I can figure things out on my own, which happens more frequently than I want to admit. I get frustrated when things don’t follow my timeline. Yet, in quiet moments with the Lord I’m gently reminded that He is in control and will finish what He started.
