Paul wrote 2 Corinthians 9 to discuss collecting funds for struggling believers in Jerusalem. In verse 9:8 he reassures them that their generosity will not leave them destitute because will ensure their needs are met.

The same is true for believers today. Sometimes we are the giver and sometimes we are the receiver of spiritual and physical provision in the world. Today’s verse reminds us that God is the ultimate provider and is ready to meet our needs.

When we give, whether financially or otherwise, with a willing heart, God is faithful to bless us. Now, to be clear, prayer, wisdom and discernment are essential components of any decision to give. Impulsive, emotionally driven giving can be disastrous. But God promises to provide for us. It may not be in the way we expect or in the amount we desire, but the opportunities are there.

God will sustain us physically and spiritually.
