Sometimes, when it seems that everything is falling apart, we forget all “God’s wonderful deeds.” Psalm 9:1 brings us back to the truth that the Lord is worthy of our praise because He never abandons us.

When I wrote my memoir a few years ago, I often felt overwhelmed as I recalled the horrible events of my childhood, but the pain was eased as I remembered the consistent presence of Jesus. My story isn’t just about the trauma I endured. In fact, the greater story is how the Lord carried me then and still does today. Without Him, I don’t think I’d be here today.

It’s hard to think of all His “wonderful deeds” when they are hidden by pain and suffering, but those deeds are as real as the pain. For me, recalling and praising Him for the good things helps me navigate the hard days.
