I absolutely love this verse! Although Psalm 4: 8 is an evening prayer, the words remind me that God’s protection over me is constant.
David most likely wrote this psalm during a time of extreme danger. He put his complete trust in the Lord and did not allow fear to keep Him from sleep.
I’ve certainly gone through seasons where worry, fear, and playing “What if…?” has kept me awake for hours. It’s hard to turn those thoughts off until I change them to thanksgiving for all the Lord has done. Reading scripture instead of researching another fact about whatever I’m worried about changes the voice in my head. Praying for peace instead of thinking about “What if…?” calms my soul.
I have gotten out of the habit of doing all this and my sleep has suffered. Today, I commit to return to prayer, scripture, and worship when I lie down and trust Him to guard me all through the night. #faithinthefog #traumarecovery #dailyinspiration
