I am so grateful that God loves me unconditionally. I am also in awe of Him because I can’t fathom why He does. David’s questions in today’s verse get to the heart of my dilemma.
How could the creator of the universe have so much care for a single human? The answer is found in Genesis 1:26, “Let us make man in our own image.” Unlike the rest of creation, we are a reflection of God.
Taking it a step further, when God became flesh and walked among us, He didn’t come as a tree, a rock, or a chicken. He came as a man, demonstrating our unique position in the hierarchy of created beings. (Reference-Aquinas). He loves us so much that He sacrificed His Son to redeem us.
We are loved because we are created as bearers of God’s image. Nothing in heaven or on earth can change that. God’s love doesn’t have a performance list. He simply loves us.
