1 John 3:1 stirs my heart every time I read it!

I remember the day the words of this verse changed my perspective about my relationship with the Lord. I was attending a Bible study at a local church where the speaker used 1 John 3:1 as her focus. I’m not sure why, but as she read the verse, something stirred inside me and I finally believed God truly loved me. I was so excited that I wanted to shout it from the mountain top. For the first time in my life, I had hope that I God’s love wasn’t transactional. Granted, it took years for me to fully embrace the idea of unconditional love, but today’s verse was the starting point.

The verse is a declaration the transformative love of our creator. Because we are so changed by His love, the world doesn’t recognize us and we will seem strange and unfamiliar to anyone who doesn’t know Jesus.

It’s an amazing thing to be loved unconditionally by God and to have the opportunity to show others how that love changes everything.
