Today’s verse follows a recap of Israel’s long cycle of obedience, rebellion, captivity, repentance, deliverance, and obedience. God’s chosen people consistently broke the covenant God made with them, but God did not destroy or forsake them. Yes, He disciplined them, but He never gave up on them. Ultimately, He sent His Son to redeem them (us).
