Nahum 1:7 provides hope amid a discourse that describes the fall of Nineveh. He warns the Israelites of the destruction of the evil Assyrian empire, but inserts verse 7 to remind them that God is good, He is a stronghold, and He knows those who trust Him. As believers, we are challenged to remember the same principles.
God is good even when life feels dark. Nahum words ring true today as we see chaos and uncertainty all around us. The Lord loved us so much He gave His Son to redeem us.
He is a fortress that we can run to when life gets overwhelming and scary. We just have to enter into His presence to experience His protection.
Finally, He knows us, sees us, and hears our cries. He will respond, maybe not in ways we expect, but He never leaves us.
Ultimately I know the fortress is there, but it’s up to me to choose to enter into the arms of His protection and rest in Him. The chaos may still swirl around me, but there is peace within the walls of His stronghold.
