1 Thessalonians was written to a group of believers who were experiencing social pressure and grief. Chapter 5 is primarily a prayer for strength, steadfastness, and comfort during a difficult time. Paul ends the chapter with a declaration that reinforces God’s faithfulness to those who love Him.
God’s faithfulness (pistos),as used here, means trustworthy, reliable, and totally dependable to keep His promises. Paul reminds his audience that the Lord will do what He says He will do. The last phrase of the verse, “He will do it,” leaves no room for doubt.
When the Lord calls us, He will provide all we need to fulfill the calling. We do not need to rely solely on our strength, but trust God to do what He promised. His timing may be different than our desires, but His timing is never late.
