The Lord is faithful to protect us from spiritual harm and sometimes from physical harm. David knew he could depend on the Lord to preserve him because he knew God’s promises. He had hope because the Lord always kept His promises.
David wasn’t perfect, in fact, he was kind of a mess, but God still loved him and protected him. Now, to be clear, David paid dearly for his sins, but he was never cut off from the Lord.
The same is true for us. We can trust the Lord to keep us safe, to strengthen us and comfort us. His Word tells us His promises and we can stand against any foe by speaking the truth found in scripture, crying out to Him and just sitting in His presence. Our circumstances may not change, but our heart will be still in the midst of the turmoil.
